The head of the United States investors’ delegation, Gentry Beach stated on Wednesday that he believed the Trump administration’s ambassador, Richard Grenell, had been misled by deepfake technology.
Beach, while speaking to journalists on , refuted the claims regarding Grenell and asserted, "Richard Grenell had been misled by deepfake technology, and his remarks about Pakistan were based on his understanding at the time. However, he now has a far better grasp of Pakistan’s reality."
Beach said: "Grenell must have gained a deeper awareness of Pakistan’s present situation."
He highlighted that Pakistan had sacrificed thousands of lives in the war against terrorism, adding that the United States recognised these sacrifices and considered Pakistan an important ally.
The delegation head further disclosed that Grenell himself had confided in him, saying, "I was given false briefings on the internet through artificial intelligence, although in reality, that was not the case. This left me disheartened."
Beach opined that the ambassador’s perspective had now become clear and that Grenell supported the initiatives currently underway in Pakistan.
It remained noteworthy that Grenell, a Trump-era diplomat, had posted several tweets regarding the release of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister, Imran Khan, on social media, all of which he had since deleted.
