A counterterrorism operation in Kachachi, Dera Ismail Khan, on 30 January 2025 resulted in the elimination of three militants, including Badruddin, also known as Yusuf, the son of the deputy governor of Afghanistan’s Badghis province, Mawlawi Ghulam Muhammad.
According to details, Yusuf was reportedly affiliated with the extremist group Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK) and was found among the ranks of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) operatives during the operation.
Security officials stated that the presence of an Afghan Taliban official’s son among TTP militants served as undeniable proof of Afghanistan’s involvement in terrorist activities against Pakistan.
"Afghanistan has openly supported terrorism in Pakistan, and the killing of the Afghan deputy governor’s son alongside TTP operatives proves this beyond doubt," a senior official remarked.
Authorities alleged that TTP and other terrorist groups had been provided training, weapons, and safe havens inside Afghanistan, calling it an act of "blatant aggression" that could no longer be tolerated.
"The involvement of the Afghan Taliban in protecting and arming militant groups is a direct threat to regional peace," an official stated, emphasising that the issue had escalated beyond a mere security concern.
Officials further claimed that Afghanistan had consistently harboured militants and sought to destabilise Pakistan. "The links between TTP and the Afghan Taliban are no longer hidden from anyone," a security source revealed.
A stern warning was issued that any use of Afghanistan-based militants against Pakistan would be met with a resolute response. "Pakistan will not tolerate state-sponsored terrorism from Afghanistan any further," a senior security official asserted.
Officials concluded that Afghanistan’s use of terrorism as a strategic tool posed a severe threat to regional stability and reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against any terrorist activity on its soil.
