The rainfall in Lahore ended smog in the city on Tuesday in the month of October.
Expressing his thoughts, DG environment Zaheer Abbas Malik' said, ‘’With the rainfalls, the smog in the city has ended naturally. ‘’
He asserted that as the rainfall has ended smog in Lahore, the city will not witness pollution the way it did the previous year.
‘’The situation of the environment is being monitored closely on a regular basis to end smog in the city,’’ the DG Environment added.

On the other side, the different parts of Punjab experienced light to heavy rain accompanied by a cool breeze, thunder and lightning for the second consecutive day, causing a further dip in the mercury level from a day before.

The showers signalling the onset of the winter season were reported in Hafizabad, Burewala, Nankana Sahib, Gujrat, Sharaqpur and their adjacent areas, turning the weather pleasant and providing a much-needed respite from the rising temperatures.
Rain also went on in Gujrat since late night, which has inundated main roads, suspended power supply in many areas and caused trouble for commuters.
Various parts of Lahore experienced heavy rain with cold winds, including Dharampura, Garhi Shahu, The Mall road, Johar Town, Gulberg, Raiwind Road, Kot Lakhpat, Shadman, Jail Road, Lawrence Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Kalma Chowk, Ferozepur Road, Model Town, Cantt, Peco Road and their adjoining areas. The continuous rain inundated low-lying areas.
