The UAE and Pakistan have long-standing and close economic relations, with the Gulf country providing support to Pakistan during critical times. Recently, a UAE firm made investments in Pakistan's ports, further strengthening bilateral ties.
The UAE is home to over two million Pakistani expatriates who are engaged in various businesses and employment sectors. These overseas Pakistanis play a key role in remittance inflows to Pakistan. In December 2024, remittances from the UAE increased by 2% compared to November, rising from $619.4 million to $631.5 million.
Furthermore, the UAE has rolled over two deposits, each worth $1 billion, placed with Pakistan's central bank for another year. These deposits were originally maturing in January 2025, and their renewal provides continued support for Pakistan’s financial stability.
