A large number of Pakistani expatriates reside in Saudi Arabia, making it the top contributor to Pakistan’s foreign remittances. In December 2024 alone, overseas Pakistanis in the kingdom sent $770.6 million in remittances.
This amount marked a 6% increase on a monthly basis and was 33% higher than the $577.6 million remitted in the same month of the previous year.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue to maintain strong economic relations. A day earlier, both nations signed an agreement for a deferred oil import payment facility worth $1.2 billion for one year.
