The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has completed the reconstruction of the Hub Bridge, restoring a crucial transportation link between the provinces of Sindh and Balochistan that was destroyed by floods in 2002.
The newly constructed two-lane bridge, spanning 488 feet across the Hub River, has resumed operations, facilitating smoother traffic flow on the N-25 highway connecting Karachi, Quetta, and surrounding regions.
The bridge's completion marks a significant improvement in regional connectivity, reducing travel times and logistical challenges that have persisted for nearly two decades. Commercial vehicles and passenger traffic can now move continuously between the two provinces, supporting enhanced trade activities and civilian movement.
NLC completed the construction despite challenging conditions and limited local resources, maintaining round-the-clock operations to finish the project. The bridge's design accommodates both commercial and civilian traffic, featuring two lanes to manage the substantial flow of vehicles along the N-25 highway.
The restoration of this vital link is expected to contribute to regional economic development by facilitating more efficient movement of goods and people between the two provinces. The improved infrastructure provides a safer and more direct route for travelers while supporting increased commercial activities in the region.
The Hub Bridge serves as a critical component of the N-25 highway network, which plays an essential role in Pakistan's transportation infrastructure, connecting major urban centers and facilitating inter-provincial commerce.
