Afghanistan opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz expressed on Friday his gratitude to the Karachi crowd for extending its support to his team against South Africa in the third match of the Champions Trophy.
Expressing his thoughts following Afghanistan's defeat against South Africa, Gurbaz said: "We were not imagining that the people will make their way to the stadium in the large numbers."
"We got to move forward on a positive note. We were of the view that the pitch will behave sluggishly. But the pitch behaved contrary to our expectations," said Gurbaz.
"We felt that we were playing back in home. Hopefully, we will play cricket in Afghanistan as well," he added.
He stated: "We have beaten every team in the world. It is not right to declare any of our victories as an upset."
Gurbaz acknowledged the efforts of Afghan batter Rahmat Shah, who plundered 92-ball 90, saying, "We might had emerged victorious today if anybody had extended support to Rahmat when he was batting."
