Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman denounced on Wednesday the reports about the retirement, expressing optimism about staging a comeback within one month.
Expressing his thoughts in a podcast posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on the social media platform, Zaman said: “I am having a good memories from the 2017 Champions Trophy and also like to play the ODI format.”
“The only thing that came to my mind was to play the Champions Trophy after recovering from illness,” said Zaman.
“The doctors had asked me to take rest, but I started the training earlier. When I got injury during the opening match of the Champions Trophy 2025, I could not controlled my emotions,” said Zaman.

He said: “My son has asked me that whether I am suffering from the pain or not. I realised after the New Zealand match that the Champions Trophy for me is over.”
“I feel that the things could had been changed if I opened for the team during the New Zealand match. I had even approached the umpire to see if there was a chance of an opening for the team,” he said.
