The price of chicken meat has risen sharply in Sialkot, with the cost per kilogram increasing by Rs107 to reach Rs700.
As Ramazan neared, the surge in meat prices had become evident, leaving citizens grappling with inflated costs.
The price of mutton also saw a significant increase, with it being sold at Rs2,700 per kilogram, up from Rs1,800. Similarly, beef prices jumped from Rs800 to Rs1,200 per kilogram.
Residents of Sialkot had voiced their concerns about the price hike, with many attributing it to a lack of oversight. "The price control committees have remained inactive, and there seems to be no regulation in place," said one concerned citizen.
The increase in meat prices ahead of Ramazan had raised alarm among the local community, but despite repeated requests, authorities had not taken any significant action to address the issue.
