Security forces successfully foiled two terrorist attacks in Dera Ghazi Khan, forcing militants to flee after a strong police response, a police spokesperson confirmed on Monday.
The first attack occurred during a joint search operation conducted by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Rangers in the Marha area. As security personnel advanced, terrorists opened fire, triggering a heavy exchange. However, due to the intense retaliation from the police, the attackers retreated into the mountains.
Shortly after, the terrorists launched a second attack on the Lakhani border checkpost, using rocket launchers, hand grenades, and other heavy weapons. Security forces repulsed the terrorists, forcing 15 to 20 terrorists to flee.
Authorities believe the terrorists suffered heavy casualties, though exact figures remain unconfirmed. The police and security agencies have intensified their search operations in the region to eliminate any remaining threats.
