Federal Anti-Corruption Court has announced its verdict in three cases related to the TDAP (Trade Development Authority of Pakistan) scandal after 16 years, acquitting Senate Chairman and former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of all charges.
During the Federal Anti-Corruption Court Karachi hearing, Yousuf Raza Gilani appeared before the court while his lawyer, Farooq H. Naek, presented his arguments. After reviewing the case, the court declared Gilani innocent and acquitted him of all corruption charges.
Gilani was accused of aiding the suspects in the freight subsidy scheme as Prime Minister, allegedly causing a loss of over Rs6 billion to the national exchequer.
Speaking to the media after the verdict, Yousuf Raza Gilani stated that the current ruling coalition government filed the case against him, but he held no grudges against anyone.
The TDAP corruption scandal involves a total of 42 cases, with only three of them linked to Yousuf Raza Gilani. The trials against other accused individuals will continue.
