A tragic incident occurred in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Maymar Afghan Basti, where the roof of a house collapsed, resulting in the deaths of six people, including five sisters, while four others sustained injuries.
According to police, the five sisters had come from Bannu to visit their maternal uncle’s house.
The accident happened due to ongoing construction work in the house. Residents were gathered in a single room when the roof gave way.
Authorities revealed that the structure was an 80-square-yard single-story house undergoing renovations. Half of the roof had already been replaced, but the remaining old structure was in poor condition.
Cement and gravel had been placed on the fragile roof, which could not bear the weight, leading to the collapse.
Rescue operations are underway, and further investigations are being conducted to determine the full extent of the tragedy.
According to rescue officials, the deceased belonged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Their bodies are currently at the Edhi morgue, where the families have arrived to transport them to their ancestral hometown for burial.
