In a significant initiative, the Pakistan Army had organised an Under-16 football talent hunt tournament for the youth from the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The tournament saw participation from eight teams representing various areas, including North and South (Upper and Lower) Waziristan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram.
After a series of intense matches, the team from Mohmand had emerged victorious, while the team from North Waziristan secured the runner-up position. Both teams were selected by the Pakistan Army for their football development programme.
The local commander, in a ceremony held after the tournament, had distributed prizes to the players to encourage their participation and achievements. "It is important to recognise and promote talent from all corners of the country, and this initiative was designed to do just that," said Colonel Malik, the local commander.
The primary goal of the tournament had been to foster interest in sports among the youth, alongside academic activities, ensuring a balanced development for young people. Local youth and elders, in their remarks, had expressed gratitude towards the Pakistan Army for organising the tournament and had praised the initiative as a positive step for the region.
The event not only provided a platform for young players to showcase their skills but also demonstrated the Pakistan Army's commitment to promoting sports in the merged districts.
