Pakistan cricket players have experienced notable declines in the latest ICC T20I rankings following consecutive defeats in their ongoing five-match series against New Zealand.
Former captain Babar Azam, currently absent from the T20I squad, has slipped one position to eighth place with 702 points. White-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan maintains his ninth position in the batting rankings, while young talent Saim Ayub has dropped three spots to 62nd with 473 points.
The Black Caps' commanding 2-0 lead in the series has dramatically boosted their players' standing in the global rankings. Wicketkeeper-batsman Tim Seifert has made the most impressive gain, climbing 20 places to reach 13th position after impressive innings of 44 and 45 runs. Opening batsman Finn Allen has also benefited from his consistent performances, jumping eight spots to 18th following contributions of 29* and 38.
Australia's Travis Head continues to dominate the T20I batting rankings, maintaining his position at the top. India's Abhishek Sharma and England's Phil Salt complete the top three.
Pakistan's bowling department has also witnessed significant movement in the rankings. Star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has descended six places to 29th with 575 points after underwhelming performances in the series. In contrast, pace bowler Haris Rauf has gained four positions to reach 26th with 586 points after claiming two wickets in the second T20I against New Zealand.
Other Pakistan bowlers have also seen ranking changes. Abbas Afridi, yet to feature in the current series, has fallen three places to 44th, while Naseem Shah has dropped two positions to 78th. Vice-captain and all-rounder Shadab Khan has experienced the most significant decline, plummeting ten places to 82nd.
New Zealand's Jacob Duffy has been the standout performer among bowlers, achieving a career-high ranking by moving up 23 places to 12th overall. His remarkable haul of six wickets in the first two matches has been instrumental in New Zealand's dominance.
West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein maintains his position at the top of the T20I bowling rankings, followed by India's Varun Chakaravarthy in second place and England's Adil Rashid in third.
The remaining three matches in the series will provide Pakistan players with opportunities to improve their rankings, while New Zealand's performers will look to continue their upward trajectory.
