Serhou Guirassy, the leading goal scorer in the Bundesliga, is set to be out of action for "a few weeks" due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by his club, Stuttgart.
Guirassy has been in sensational form this season, netting an impressive 14 goals in just eight games, placing him five goals ahead of Bayern Munich's Harry Kane at the top of the league's scoring charts.
The French-born Guinean striker made a significant contribution to Stuttgart's 3-0 victory over Union Berlin on Saturday, opening the scoring. However, he was forced to leave the pitch after just 30 minutes due to his hamstring issue.
Stuttgart's manager, Sebastian Hoeness, expressed his disappointment at the loss of the star striker, describing it as "bitter for him personally and for the team." Hoeness added that the team is determined to compensate for Guirassy's absence as effectively as possible.
Guirassy's remarkable form has seen him score in nearly every one of Stuttgart's league matches this season, already surpassing his previous season's total of 11 goals.
Thanks to Guirassy's prolific goal-scoring, Stuttgart, which had to win a two-legged playoff against second-division Hamburg to retain their Bundesliga status last season, currently sits in second place in the league standings.
Serhou Guirassy's outstanding performance sets him apart as the second player in Europe's top-five leagues to achieve 14 or more goals in his first eight games, a feat previously accomplished only by Cristiano Ronaldo for Real Madrid in the 2014-15 season.
