In a chilling incident within the jurisdiction of Thana Saddar Yazman, a son shot and killed his own father, allegedly for an insurance payout of Rs 2.5 million.
According to police reports, the victim, Ghulam Shabbir, had a life insurance policy worth Rs 2.5 million, which his son, Zubair, was aware of. Zubair, who was eager to get married but lacked financial resources, was reportedly under severe mental stress.
As per the FIR, the mother of a girl Zubair intended to marry allegedly advised him that if he wanted to claim the insurance money, he would need to eliminate his father. Acting on this suggestion, Zubair, along with his mother and a close associate, confronted Ghulam Shabbir and got into a heated argument.
During the altercation, Zubair opened fire on his father and fled the scene. Ghulam Shabbir was being rushed to the hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Following the incident, a case was registered on the complaint of a close relative of the victim, who is a local landowner. Police acted swiftly and arrested the prime suspect, Zubair, while efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining accomplices.
