Alima Khan — sister of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) — claimed that Imran Khan has been offering options to either leave the country or stay silent for two years.
She pointed out that despite appearing five times in court for the October 5th case, the investigation officer has failed to attend.
She was talking to media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore Tuesday.
Alima Khan said she had urged the judge to take action, saying, "If we are not going to get justice, we will withdraw our bail application." She further emphasized the need for a movement to protect the independence of both the police and the judiciary in Pakistan.
She mentioned that it has been three weeks since she had been unable to meet with the PTI founder.
However, she warned that if the authorities do not arrange a meeting with him, they would stage a protest outside the court.
The sister of PTI founder claimed that the PTI founder remains firm in his stance, telling her, "I will not succumb to any pressure and will not back down."
The situation remains tense, with Alima Khan calling for immediate action to resolve the ongoing legal challenges.
Omar Ayub criticizes govt's financial policies
Opposition Leader Omar Ayub Khan has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the federal government's financial management, highlighting a significant shortfall in development expenditures.
He noted that while Rs1,400 billion were allocated for development projects, only Rs62 billion have been utilized to date, raising concerns about fiscal responsibility. Ayub also criticized the government's approach to negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that despite initiating talks in good faith, the lack of commitment from the government side has led to a deadlock.
He emphasized that PTI's leadership, including jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, remains steadfast in their principles and is not seeking personal concessions. Furthermore, Ayub condemned the alleged institutional interference in politics, asserting that such actions are detrimental to the nation.
He warned that any arrests of PTI leaders, such as Hammad Azhar and Mian Aslam Iqbal, would be met with strong opposition in parliament and peaceful protests nationwide. Ayub reiterated PTI's commitment to peaceful politics and dialogue, while also expressing concern over the government's alleged use of force against party supporters during protests.
He called for the release of all political prisoners and emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles and the rule of law.
