As the much-anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 is set to commence on April 11, Karachi traffic police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan aimed at ensuring smooth vehicular movement and public convenience during match days.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the plan outlines designated parking zones, traffic diversions, and restrictions on heavy vehicles in key areas surrounding the National Stadium, where several PSL fixtures are scheduled to be held.
Officials said the National Coaching Centre and China Ground would serve as official parking areas for spectators. Both tracks of Sir Shah Sulaiman Road will remain open for light traffic, while routes from Karsaz, Millennium Mall, and New Town have been clearly demarcated for access to the stadium.
“Vehicles approaching from Karsaz will be directed onto Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road and then to Sir Shah Sulaiman Road,” the traffic advisory noted. Those coming from Millennium Mall will be routed through Stadium Road to the designated parking areas.
Similarly, motorists arriving from New Town have been advised to use the route past Aga Khan Hospital, with final parking available at the National Coaching Centre or China Ground.
In a bid to minimise congestion, heavy traffic will not be permitted to enter the vicinity of the stadium. Specifically, access will be restricted at NIPA and Hassan Square, while routes from PP Chowrangi to University Road and from Karsaz to Stadium Road will remain closed for heavy vehicles. Additionally, heavy transport will be barred from entering from Millennium Mall to New Town and from Stadium Signal to Hassan Square.
The announcement comes just days after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) launched online ticket sales for the tournament. Fans can now book their seats for the six-team event, which will be held across Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
A total of 34 matches are scheduled over a 37-day period, culminating in the grand final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on May 18.
Given the presence of international players and high-profile officials, stringent security measures have been put in place. A wing of Rangers and two companies of the army will be deployed in each host city to assist local police in safeguarding team movements, stadium premises, and hotel accommodations.
The Karachi traffic police have urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement personnel and adhere to the designated routes to ensure a seamless and safe experience for all attendees.
