The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has denied allegations that it is making identity cards for illegal immigrants.
NADRA's response comes after a viral video showed Afghan nationals sitting inside a warehouse with allegations that the authority's officials were making National Identity Cards (NICs) of illegal Afghan nationals.
The clip also features a mobile registration van (MRV) of NADRA.
Notably, the government's deadline for illegal immigrants to leave Pakistan or face forced expulsion has passed on November 1.
NADRA responds to viral video
NADRA has responded to a viral video of its MRV parked in a building near Khyber Chowk in Karachi, which was being used to promote false propaganda against the government's campaign to deport illegal foreign nationals.
The authority has clarified that the video is four months old (July 20) and that the registration activity was taking place during daytime with the vehicle temporarily sheltered in the building due to bad weather.
NADRA also confirmed that the team successfully processed several renewals, serving both male and female applicants.
The statement further said that the local police officers on patrol approached the NADRA workers to inquire about the purpose of their activity and left without further engagement after receiving a satisfactory response.

NADRA reiterated its commitment to fulfilling its national duties in collaboration with other government agencies to ensure the deportation of illegal foreign nationals.
The authority also expressed regret that some miscreants were engaged in propaganda activities against the government's campaign, and cited the viral video as an example of such deceptive propaganda.
