The Islamabad police have said that the entry of smoke-emitting vehicles has been prohibited in the capital to curtail smog.
A spokesperson said vehicles emitting smoke will not be allowed to enter Islamabad as per the orders of CCPO Akbar Nasir Khan, till January.

He said smoke-emitting vehicles, whether private, government, or laden with goods, will not be allowed entry into the city.

He said legal action would be taken against such vehicles within Islamabad as measures were taken to prevent environmental pollution and smog in winter.
The public is requested to cooperate with the police in this regard, the spokesperson added.
As per reports, the majority of the smog is caused by vehicles that emit smoke, brick kilns, and burning of crop residue, which pollutes the environment.
NDMA smog advisory
The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a smog advisory for the till November 12 as the circular reads: “Smog is likely to reach dangerous levels in Gujranwala, Multan, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad in Central and South Punjab.”
While Sargodha, DG Khan, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi and Islamabad may also come under smog blanket.

Despite ban imposed by the Punjab government, brick kilns are functional as per usual in Hafizabad. Brick kilns are one of the top factors behind creating smog.
Crops residue being burnt in Multan
Crop residues are being burnt in Multan's outskirts by the land growers defying the ban imposed by the Punjab government.
Multan administration sealed 11 brick kilns and imposed 10.25 million on brick kilns. The local administration urged school children and people to wear masks to defy smog effects.

The country’s fifth largest city Gujranwala has also been the victim of smog. As per SAMAA TV, factories and brick kilns are major factors of the smog in the metropolis causing severe problems for Gujranwala residents. The population and industrial area are interconnected in Gujranwala.
