Afghanistan are set to face India in a three-match Twenty20 series in January, marking the first occasion the two teams engage in a multi-match white-ball contest, as announced by the Afghanistan Cricket Board on Tuesday.
Commencing on January 11 in Mohali, the series will then progress to Indore for a match on January 14, culminating in the final encounter in Bengaluru on January 17.
Afghanistan, once regarded as World Cup underdogs with only one victory in their previous two campaigns, showcased a remarkable turnaround in the recently concluded event in India. Wrapping up the competition with four victories, they secured a spot in the Champions Trophy by claiming the sixth position.
Meanwhile, India faced disappointment in Sunday's 50-over World Cup final against Australia, succumbing to a six-wicket defeat in Ahmedabad.
