The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Thursday announced an increase in the prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), affecting households and consumers across the nation.
The notification released by the OGRA indicates a rise in LPG rates by Rs 45.18, with the regulatory body approving a 1.5% increase.
For the month of November, the domestic cylinder was priced at Rs 2962. However, in December, consumers will experience a surge in LPG prices reaching a total of Rs 3,007.
OGRA attributes this recent spike in LPG prices to the notable 1.87% increase in the average value of the dollar over the past month. The fluctuation in the dollar's value is identified as a key factor influencing the upward trajectory of LPG costs.
On the other hand, the LPG Association has also decided to raise the price of commercial cylinders, amounting to a total increase of Rs 174. The new rate for commercial cylinder is now fixed at Rs 255 per kilogram.
The LPG Association has indicated that in December, commercial cylinders will be available for Rs 11,571, reflecting a significant jump from the previous month when the price was set at Rs 251.
