The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has lost one more member in the string of desertions from the party. Former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Wasiq Qayyum Abbasi has announced quitting the PTI.
In a statement posted to his X account, Abbasi said he rejected the party’s narrative of misleading the nation.
He said his political career was aimed at serving the people, adding that it was now “unbearable” to hold the “burden of confrontation” with the state and its institutions.

"Therefore, I announce to quit and leave politics and PTI,” he said in his statement.
The former deputy speaker said he “defied” all violent acts against state institutions as well as the narrative that “mislead the whole nation” by PTI. “Long live Pakistan!”
