The Islamabad District and Sessions Court extended the interim bails of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Toshakhana case.
Additional Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard six bail pleas of the former PTI chief and one of the former first lady. Imran Khan's interim bail was extended till December 19 and Bushra Bibi's till January 2, 2024.
Bushra Bibi appeared before the court with her legal team, while Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry represented Imran Khan in court.
The lawyer told the court that Khan’s bail plea has been granted by the Anti-Terrorism Court. The judge asked on what basis bail was granted.
Chaudhry responded that the former PTI chairman wasn’t present at the scene. They are deliberately not presenting Imran Khan in court, he said, and requested to present his client.
“Wherever you are, a court is set up there. You have set this tradition,” Judge Sipra remarked.
The lawyer said this was a pre-arrest bail petition, for which a suspect is supposed to be present in court.
The judge said he would seek a report and decided till the next hearing where the proceedings will take place.
The court adjourned the hearing till December 19.
