Applicants in Karachi and across Sindh are still facing significant delays in obtaining passports through the normal application process.
This has led to a surge in demand for e-passports, fast track, and urgent services.
The current waiting period for passports processed through the normal fee system is reportedly over a month and a half, causing frustration and inconvenience for many applicants. This has resulted in a decline in the overall number of applications received by passport offices across Sindh.
Previously, the daily average number of applications received by the passport offices of Sindh, including three in Karachi alone, stood between 5,500 and 6,000. However, this figure has now dropped to 4,500, indicating a shift towards faster processing options.
There were challenges faced by applicants, and demands for e-passports, fast track, and urgent services have increased. These options offer quicker processing times at an additional cost, making them more attractive to individuals in urgent need of a passport.
