Former MPA Umer Tanveer Butt on Thursday decided to bid farewell to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and politics.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Butt said: “I condemn the attacks and maligning of the state institutions by the PTI. It is not possible to continue the politics based on the policy of tussling with the state institutions.”
Earlier today, Butt surrendered before the anti-terrorism court (ATC) in connection with the events that transpired on May 9. The accused had been on the run and in hiding for several months.

PTI joint secretary Noman Shah on Thursday decided to part ways with the party following the events that transpired on May 9.
Expressing his thoughts, Shah said: "It now becomes difficult to stand by the deposed premier after May 9 mayhem. The workers had to bear brunt of the ill-mannered decisions taken by the party top brass."
He lambasted former Punjab chief minister Usman Buzdar and Farah Gogi, saying the practice of "corruption was promoted" under the supervision of the latters.
"The deposed premier had left no stone unturned to perplex the masses. This is the time where the PTI is now itself placed on ventiliation," he said.
Shah bemoaned the PTI intra-party elections, saying, "The party cannot be uplifted by holding the fake intra-party elections."
