A large number of illegal Afghans have been deported back to Afghanistan from Pakistan over fear of arrest as Islamabad announced a change of policy shift after a series of attacks on security forces and civilians by Afghan national suicide bombers.
The policymakers in Islamabad said enough was enough to the Afghan refugee problem and announced the deportation of illegal Afghans residing in Pakistan back to their home country.

On December 16, 1,634 Afghan citizens, including 377 men, 325 women, and 932 children, crossed into Afghanistan.

As per SAMAA TV, out of 1634 Afghan citizens (97 families), there were 377 men, 325 women and 932 children who went to their country on December 16, on 66 vehicles have been repatriated to Afghanistan
As of December 16, 2023, the total number of illegal Afghans who left Pakistan has reached 435,152 and the return is ongoing.
