Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and ex-MNA Sadaqat Abbasi decided not to contest the upcoming general elections on Sunday.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s son had also not submitted the nomination papers. The phase of submission of the nomination papers from NA-51 and PP-6 has been completed.
43 candidates had submitted their nomination papers from NA-51, whereas 57 candidates had been geared up to contest the elections from PP-6.

Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan launched his election campaign on Saturday as an independent candidate.
Addressing the public gathering in Rawalpindi, Khan said: “I can criticise the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, but I will not rebuke. The PTI founder has been my friend for the last 50 years. Even I had connected with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for many tears.”
He stated, “I will clinch a historical victory on one provincial and two national assembly seats on February 8. I will become part of the process of saving the country.”
Khan urged his supporters to show political vigilance. “All the supporters should remain active till the end of the voting process. I will myself observe the results of the elections.”
