As mid-January 2024 approaches, travelers in the UAE are anticipating a substantial reduction in airfares, potentially reaching up to 50-60%.
This potential price plunge is expected to target flights on high-fare routes to popular destinations like the UK, Europe, South Asia, the Philippines, and even the US. According to travel experts, the winter rush coupled with the arrival of large tour groups in Dubai is creating a shift in demand, causing airlines to potentially revise their pricing strategies.
Malo Prado, CEO of MPQ Travel and Tourism, points out that the expected decrease in winter fares for long-haul flights from the UAE is driven by heightened demand from large tour groups seeking more flights to Dubai.
The surge in fares has posed challenges for local travelers in securing timely flight seats, but this trend is poised for a significant shift.
Anticipated changes could result in substantial fare reductions globally. For instance, an economy class fare from London Heathrow Airport to Dubai, currently at 5,135 dirhams, may drop to 2,410 dirhams. Similarly, the fare from New York to Dubai, currently over 6,500 dirhams, could see a reduction, potentially accompanied by a decrease in taxes to around 3,500 dirhams.
This expected reduction in airfares is met with enthusiasm by travelers, promising more accessible and affordable options for international flights from the UAE in the upcoming weeks.
