Erstwhile FATA independent senator Hidayatullah on Friday submitted a fresh resolution for postponement of general elections—to be held on Feb 8—urging the ECP to delay polls for three months.
The resolution was submitted to the Senate Secretariat by Hidayatullah of the Independent Parliamentary Group.
Senator Hidayatullah's resolution also mentions the recent violent attacks in country and uptick incidents of targeting election candidates.
As per the draft of the resolution, the Upper House of the Parliament expresseed deep concern over the increasing incidence of violence.
“The Election Commission and the Supreme Court should give sympathetic consideration to the conduct of peaceful election,” the resolution demanded.
The resolution submitted in the secretariat is not signed by any other senator except Hidayatullah.
