Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday urged the caretaker government to provide relief to the inflation-hit masses.
Expressing his thoughts, Mr Kundi bemoaned the significant increase in petroleum prices. "There is a dire need to provide relief to the masses," Mr Kundi stated.
He was of the view that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) should not be used for the sake of political engineering. "When the PPP was in power way back in 2008, none of the political leaders faced political detention," Mr Kundi added.
In connection with holding the elections, Mr Kundi said, "In a bid to achieve political stability in the country, there is an urgent need to hold the elections."
"Pakistan is a nuclear country and cannot be run on an ad hoc basis," Mr Kundi said.
– MQM-P condemns whopping increase in petroleum prices –
The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) condemned on Saturday the whopping increase in petroleum prices.
The MQM-P Rabita Committee said, "The caretaker government is mounting pressure on the masses instead of decreasing its own expenses. The exorbitant prices of petroleum products will also make it extremely difficult for the people to get the basic amenities of life."
"People are compelled to commit suicide as they are facing severe economic hardships. It is becoming difficult for salaried people to fulfil their basic needs," said the MQM-P.
The MQM-P rued, "It is becoming difficult to endure the red-hot inflation as the poor segment of society is struggling deeply."
