Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday deemed former prime minister Nawaz Sharif a "statesman".
Speaking on the Samaa TV programme "Mere Sawaal With Muneeb Farooq", Shehbaz said, "I am thankful to the younger Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for what he has said in the assembly. The PPP is now hurling allegations at us over ballooning inflation. But we were allies during the PDM-led government.''
Shehbaz Sharif said, "We had sacrificed our politics for the sake of saving the country. Nobody would have taken our names today if we did not save the country from default.".
He underscored the importance of strong democracy, saying, "The democracy cannot tolerate malpractice, dictatorship, and treason."
Recalling the events that transpired on May 9, Shehbaz Sharif said, "It would have been better if the events that happened on May 9 had not happened. The May 9 cases are of serious interest, for which the PTI founder is behind bars."
The PTI founder used to say that he would send his opponents to jail. We have never used such words for our opponents.
"Is Nawaz the apple of the eye, who faced a lifetime sentence and exile in the plane hijacking case?" questioned Shehbaz Sharif
"Despite Nawaz Sharif's arrest, we were winning the 2018 elections," Shehbaz Sharif said.
– There is difference between Nawaz Sharif and other politicians, says Maryam Nawaz –
PML-N Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz said today that there is a difference between former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and other politicians.
Addressing the party workers in Lahore, Maryam vowed to serve the masses. "Cast vote for the PML-N on February 8, and we will put in all-out efforts to deliver for the masses," she added.
She vowed to create the opportunity for employment for the masses. "We will also provide the best health facilities to the masses,'' the PML-N stalwart added.
"The masses will witness a massive decrease in inflation if the PML-N forms a stronger government in the forthcoming elections. We will not only change the fate of Lahore and Punjab but of the entire country," she maintained.
"By casting a vote for the PML-N, the journey of the development that had been stopped for the last five years will start again,'' Maryam said.
