Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif stressed on Saturday his commitment to planning for the future while putting aside grievances from the past.
During the manifesto unveiling ceremony in Lahore, the deposed premier expressed his resilience in the face of adversity, noting that he had endured imprisonment multiple times for the service of the people.
Emphasising a shift towards development-focused politics, he asserted that his focus lies on building the nation rather than seeking revenge.
"I am not in the mood to complain today; I have come to talk about the future," stated Nawaz Sharif. He underscored his dedication to the forthcoming elections, pledging to adhere to the party's manifesto if given the opportunity. "If Allah gives us the chance, we will follow our manifesto, prioritizing the welfare of the people," he added.
Addressing the challenges facing the nation, Sharif acknowledged the pressing issues of the economy and inflation. He vowed to work towards resolving these problems, stating, "The biggest problem in Pakistan is the economy and inflation. We want to get the country out of all these problems."
Highlighting the party's commitment to democratic values, Nawaz Sharif pointed out that they have set a positive precedent by accepting Asif Zardari as the President. He distanced himself from the tactics of sit-ins and protests, asserting that their approach is grounded in the principles of their manifesto.
Referring to past interactions with political opponents, Sharif mentioned visiting Bani Gala for the sake of Pakistan, demonstrating a willingness to collaborate for the greater good. Despite political differences, he emphasized the importance of working together for the betterment of the country.
Nawaz Sharif concluded by reflecting on his political journey, stating that he paid a political price for saving the country from bankruptcy. He reiterated his commitment to principled politics, emphasizing patience and a focus on the nation's prosperity.
