The intensity of cold has increased in various cities of Punjab, including Lahore, due to thunder and lightning. Rain with thunder occurred in different areas of Lahore at night, as well as in Faisalabad, Gujrat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, and other cities.
According to WASA Lahore, the highest rainfall was recorded near the airport at 17.5mm, followed by 16mm near Upper Mall and Jail Road, and 8mm in Tajpura and Nishtar Town.
Snowfall in Azad Kashmir:
Life has been disrupted due to snowfall in the upper areas of Azad Kashmir. Communication roads in the hilly areas are closed, cutting off land communication with other areas.
Neelam Valley also continued to experience snowfall, while due to landslides, communication has been cut off with Jagran, including Shountar Valley and Gurez Valley. Electricity connections and internet system has also been badly affected.
More Rain and Snow Expected:
The Meteorological Department has predicted rain and snow in the mountains of Islamabad, Punjab, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Intermittent rain is also likely.
Heavy Snowfall in Murree:
Snowfall has continued for the fourth day in Ayubia, Nathiagali, and Thandiani, leading to an increase in cold intensity. Two and a half feet of snow fell in Chinglagali, while one and a half feet fell in Ayubia and Nathiagali.
Roads Blocked in Murree:
Machines are working to clear the highway from Abbottabad to Murree, but the Galiyat Development Authority is facing difficulties in opening the roads. Connecting roads of various villages in Abbottabad are also closed, and electricity supply has been suspended.
Highway Closed for Tourists:
The highway from Abbottabad to Murree has been closed for tourists due to the dangerous conditions.
