Members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in the Senate staged a protest against alleged election rigging during the general elections, encircling the seat of the Chairman. Holding placards and chanting slogans, they voiced their discontent.
The Senate convened under the leadership of Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, where the issue of alleged election irregularities took center stage. As the session commenced, PTI senators encircled the Chairman’s seat, initiating a chorus of protest.
Senator Kamran Murtaza drew parallels between the current situation and the events leading to the disintegration of East Pakistan, highlighting widespread discontent among both victors and losers.
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani responded by assuring a thorough debate on the matter during the next session, in accordance with parliamentary rules. He announced the adjournment of the motion, paving the way for a potentially heated discussion on Tuesday.
Sanjrani also expressed the Senate's commitment to addressing the nation's concerns, promising a debate on alleged election irregularities. He noted that the current session, until March 8, would be dedicated to Private Member's Day activities and the farewell session of the Senate.
