The Airport Security Force (ASF) at Karachi Airport apprehended a passenger attempting to smuggle foreign currency and gold worth approximately Rs 1.6 million on Tuesday.
During routine security checks, ASF personnel identified suspicious items in the luggage of passenger Imran Gul Awan, who was preparing to depart for Bangkok. Upon further examination, officers discovered a significant amount of undeclared foreign currency and gold concealed within the bag.
The confiscated items included 251 grams of gold, as well as various denominations of foreign currency, including US dollars, Hong Kong dollars, Chinese yuan, and Saudi riyals. The estimated total value of the seized goods reached Rs 1.6 million.
Following the discovery, the ASF apprehended Awan and handed him over to customs officials for further investigation and legal proceedings. This incident highlights the vigilance of the ASF in safeguarding Pakistan's borders and preventing illegal currency and gold exportation.
