Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz convened a special meeting to discuss the implementation of an ambitious project aimed at constructing 100,000 houses for low-income families across the province.
During the meeting, CM Maryam sought a detailed plan to execute the 'Apna Ghar, Apni Chhat' housing initiative effectively.
The meeting was attended by former senator Pervaiz Rasheed, MPA Azma Bukhari, the chief secretary the senior member Board of Revenue, the planning and development chairman, the secretaries of housing and finance, the Lahore commissioner, and other officials,

Addressing the gathering, Maryam Nawaz underscored the importance of providing shelter to those in need and instructed the authorities to expedite the process of constructing more than 3,000 houses in every district of Punjab. She stressed the urgency of preparing the model houses within six weeks to initiate the project promptly.
Furthermore, the CM also directed to keep the down payment and monthly installments at a minimum, ensuring accessibility for low-income individuals. She reiterated her commitment to fulfilling the promise of providing ready homes to the low-income homeless as part of her manifesto.
"Providing shelter to the poor is our manifesto, and we will fulfil the promise," she stressed.
The initiative reflects the government's dedication to addressing the housing needs of marginalized communities and aligns with their goal of socio-economic development and poverty alleviation.
Meanwhile, the first phase of the Punjab cabinet formation is expected to take place within the next one to two days, with 15 ministers taking the oath as ministers at the Governor House.
This initial phase will see a leaner cabinet, focusing on key portfolios. Among the anticipated cabinet appointments, Marriyum Aurangzeb is expected to assume the planning and development and forests departments, while Azma Bukhari is poised to become the provincial information minister.
Khawaja Imran Nazir is slated to take charge as the minister for primary health, with Bilal Yasin could be designated as the minister for food and Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman to oversee the excise department.
In Maryam Nawaz's initial cabinet lineup, Khalid Jajja is earmarked for the Ministry of Agriculture, while Faisal Ayub is anticipated to assume the responsibilities of the Ministry of Housing and Sports. Additionally, Salman Naeem and Rana Iskandar Hayat are also expected to join the 15-member cabinet.
