Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari is our Presidential candidate and we all will cast votes for him and even if Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had not come to ask for votes even then he would have got votes.
Addressing a joint presser along with PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, she instructed that all MPs should come to cast their votes according to the party discipline.
The Punjab chief minister said that Asif Ali Zardari’s assuming the office of the President is welcoming as the arriving of a political personality will prove to be fruitful, adding that his relationship and meetings are above political affiliations.
Ms Nawaz further said that common agenda of PML-N, PPP, PML-Q, IPP and Zia League is to rid the country out of crisis, adding that it is time to work in tandem irrespective of our personal interests as the problems are so much aggravated that no political party can resolve them on its own.
She also resolved to address the myriad problems. Expressing her thoughts in Lahore, Maryam said: “The PML-N will take care of its allies in a great way. We will have to pave the way for the development of Punjab.”
Meanwhile, she expressed her views in line with women's empowerment, saying, “I had made it clear in my first speech that harassing women is my red line." The report, which I see, mentions the rape cases daily.”
“Those women who extend support to the family are unsung heroes. I am having the wish that my successor should be a woman as well,” Maryam stated.
Maryam said: “The problems I have seen and faced will be discussed. Punjab has set an example by electing a woman as the chief minister.”
On the other side, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said: “Asif Ali Zardari will take care of everybody in a same way he takes care of me.”
The PPP chairman thanked CM Maryam Nawaz and others for showing their complete support. He stated that Asif Ali Zardari deals affectionately with me and with all the political parties.
Lashing out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) indirectly, Bhutto-Zardari said: “It is one specific political party that has divided society.”
The former foreign minister stressed the need for serving the underprivileged segment of society, saying, “It is the responsibility of everybody to serve the underprivileged segment of society.”
Felicitating Maryam Nawaz on becoming the Punjab chief minister, Bhutto-Zardari said: “I would like to felicitate Maryam Nawaz on becoming the chief minister. Maryam Nawaz has become the first woman chief minister.”
