Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the construction of three police stations for anti-narcotics measures.
A meeting of the Department of Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control was chaired by the chief minister. It was decided to form a new department dedicated to drug prevention, while additional measures include 13 excise checkposts being built to stop drug smuggling.
The meeting was briefed that the work for e-registration of vehicles had started, while tax collection had increased by 12.5%.
Moreover, the rehabilitation of the opium factory was reviewed, according to which it was assessed that Rs900 million would be benefited by pharmaceuticals. The excise department would provide its services through the Dastak program and work with the Safe City Authority for recovery of challans.
The chief minister directed to eliminate the backlog of vehicle registration plates and sought an assessment report on the tax difference according to the rental value and DC rate.
During the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said that a tax consultancy unit will be established and the people who do not pay tax should be brought into the tax net.
