Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif vowed on Monday to deliver exemplary punishment to the perpetrators behind the Bisham incident - the heinous suicide attack that claimed lives of at least six individuals, including five Chinese nationals - on March 26.
Addressing a gathering of Chinese workers at the power project site, PM Sharif condemned the cowardly act that resulted in the loss of five Chinese nationals and one local worker.
He emphasised that such nefarious actions aimed to disrupt the strong bond between Pakistan and China, describing the attack as an assault on the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations.
The premier also assured foolproof security measures for the Chinese nationals working on Dasu Hydropower Project as well as across the country.
Accompanied by federal ministers Amir Muqam and Attaullah Tarar, as well as Chairman of WAPDA Lt Gen. (retd) Sajjad Ghani, the Prime Minister expressed condolences to the Chinese community, assuring them of the government's steadfast commitment to ensuring their safety.
Terming the attack as the handiwork of enemies of Pakistan, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the need for resolute action against those seeking to undermine the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the bilateral relationship.
In response, Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong acknowledged the Prime Minister's visit to the embassy and thanked the Pakistani government and people for their solidarity. He reiterated China's dedication to strengthening its strategic partnership with Pakistan.
Prime Minister Sharif disclosed that a joint investigation team had been swiftly formed following the incident, with its report imminent. He affirmed the government's readiness to promptly implement the recommendations of the inquiry committee.
Highlighting the importance of Pak-China friendship, Prime Minister Shehbaz asserted that the collaboration would continue to flourish, undeterred by the actions of detractors.
The gathering concluded with a 30-second silence in remembrance of the lives lost in the tragic incident.
