The Senate secretariat on Tuesday hinted at holding timely elections for chairman and deputy chairman.
Sources divulged that it is unlikely that there will be any obstacles due to the postponement of the Senate elections in the KP Assembly.
The matters in line with the oath-taking ceremony of the senators and the election of the chairman and deputy speaker will not be affected.
According to the Election Act, the senators will have to submit the details of the expenses of the election within five days of being elected.
Subsequently, the Election Commission of Pakistan will issue a notification to the newly-elected senators.
Sources privy to the development said the government is duty-bound to convene the Senate session following the notification.
According to Senate rules, the first session will be convened for administering oaths to the newly-elected senators.
It is mandatory to pick up the chairman and deputy chairman in the same session.
The election of the chairman and deputy chairman is an internal process of the Senate.
It is mentioned in the judicial decision that the internal proceedings of the parliament cannot be challenged.

Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the senators' role in uplifting the country's democracy was vital.
The premier felicitated the newly-elected senators. On this occasion, PM Shehbaz said: "The Senate elections are a part of the continuity of the democratic process."
He hoped that the senators would play a vital role in a bid to lead the country towards development and prosperity.

Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on felicitated victorious candidates in the Senate elections.
According to details, CM Maryam felicitated Muhammad Aurangzeb, Musadik Malik, Anoushay Rahman, Bushra Anjum, and all others for emerging victorious in the elections.
Expressing her thoughts on the occasion, CM Maryam said: "The democracy gets strengthened with transparent elections."
She underscored the importance of national integrity, saying, "The country could only witness prosperity by embracing unity."
"It is due to our successful strategy in Punjab that the candidates have become senators unopposed," CM Maryam added.
She hoped that the newly-elected senators would work for the sake of the country's progress and the uplift of democracy.
