Police claim to have arrested the culprit involved in the alleged rape of a minor child in Aitekaf at a mosque at Sanawan Bukhi Chowk in Muzaffargarh.
The swift action was taken on the orders of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The chief minister promptly took notice of the incident, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
According to police reports, the suspect, who allegedly raped the 13-year-old child during Aitekaf on April 2, was apprehended with the assistance of modern technology after registering a case against him, as he had fled from the scene after committing the heinous crime. Both were observing Aitekaf at the same mosque.
Videos related to the incident had also gone viral on social media. The DNA sample of the arrested suspect has been sent to the forensic laboratory, while the medical examination of the child has also been conducted.
The police say that the culprit will be severely punished by issuing an investigation report in the light of forensic reports and evidence.
Earlier in the day, taking notice of the incident, CM Maryam Nawaz had issued directives to the Punjab police inspector general to submit a detailed report on the matter. She emphasized the importance of bringing the culprit to justice and ensuring that such heinous crimes do not go unpunished.
Expressing her firm stance on the matter, Maryam Nawaz reiterated that those involved in such shameful acts must face severe consequences for their actions.
The incidents have sparked outrage and concern among the public, highlighting the urgent need for stricter measures to protect vulnerable individuals, especially children, from exploitation and abuse.
