Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senator Irfan Siddiqui hailed on Friday the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder as a "national hero."
Expressing his thoughts during the Senate session, Siddiqui said: "The PTI founder has a fan following. I am against arresting political leaders. The governments change in the country, but the values and traditions should be upheld permanently."
"If the opposition can sit with Mahmood Achakzai and Maulana Fazlur Rehman, then why not with us. We also respect you [the opposition]" he said.
"Their chief minister [Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur] had talked about attacking Islamabad," Siddiqui maintained.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that those who harmed the country's economy will be held accountable.
Addressing the federal cabinet, the premier said: "We will have to take tough decisions for the sake of the country.
Taking a dig at the political opponents, the premier said: "I had no idea where the transparent government was running the country.
“We are implementing the agenda of the economic referendum. The situation is getting better with our joint efforts,” he added.
The premier was of the view that the country witnessed an increase in its exports.
"The track and trace system of the cigarette's manufacturing was nothing but fraud," said PM Shehbaz.
The decision has been taken to control power theft and strengthen the transmission system.
