Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Pakistan and China relationship is crucial for maintaining regional and global peace and stability.
During a joint press conference in Beijing with his Chinese counterpart, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Senator Dar expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome extended by China.
He noted the significance of these strategic talks, which mark the resumption of discussions after a one-year pause since the fifth round.
"The friendship between Pakistan and China is not merely symbolic," Senator Dar declared at the press briefing.
"It is a cornerstone for peace and stability, not only in the region but also globally.Our discussions have been productive and constructive, encompassing a wide range of crucial topics, including the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the current geopolitical situation in the region."
Mutual support on key issues
Senator Dar reaffirmed China's unwavering support on essential issues such as the Kashmir dispute. He reciprocated by pledging Pakistan's unwavering commitment to stand by China on fundamental matters like Taiwan and the South China Sea dispute.
Additionally, he expressed gratitude for China's consistent backing of Pakistan's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security.
Senator Dar condemned the recent attack in Shangla and assured that those responsible would face justice. He extended heartfelt condolences to China over the tragic incident, emphasizing the enduring strength of the Pakistan-China friendship, which is approaching its 73rd anniversary.
Senator Dar highlighted agreements reached during the strategic talks to bolster cooperation in key sectors like the Mainline-1 (ML1) railway project, Gwadar port development, mining, information technology, energy, and agriculture.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi welcomed Senator Dar's visit, underlining the significance of his role as Deputy Prime Minister.
"The relationship between Pakistan and China is not only strategic but also deeply rooted in mutual trust and respect," remarked Wang. "This unbreakable bond serves as a pillar for regional peace and prosperity, growing ever stronger with time."
