Justice Munib Akhtar will take oath as the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan tomorrow, May 18, due to the foreign visit of Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
The swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Supreme Court Judges Block at 10:30 a.m., and Justice Yahya Afridi will administer the oath.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa will be visiting Azerbaijan from May 18 to 22 to attend the SCO meeting, a significant regional conference.
In his absence, Justice Munib Akhtar, the second most senior judge after Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, will assume the role of acting Chief Justice.
Notably, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah is also currently abroad, which is why Justice Muneeb Akhtar will take the reins as acting Chief Justice. The ceremony will be attended by Supreme Court judges and senior lawyers, underscoring the significance of the occasion.
The SCO meeting in Azerbaijan provides a platform for regional countries to discuss key issues and strengthen cooperation.
