A significant weather event disrupted life in Lahore today, as dusty winds in the evening followed an intensely hot day.
The winds were soon followed by heavy rain and thunder in several areas, bringing much-needed relief from the oppressive heat but also causing significant challenges for residents.
The evening storm caused difficulties for citizens commuting on the roads. In Gulberg, a tree fell on the main boulevard, resulting in partial injuries to two motorcyclists.
The city traffic police reported that traffic flow has normalised post-storm, though rain-induced slowdowns persisted, especially on Canal Road.
The storm's impact extended to the power infrastructure, with 322 feeders in the Lesko region tripping due to strong winds and intermittent rain. According to LESCO officials, while some feeders remain closed due to technical failures, repair work is ongoing.
Areas affected by the power outages include Gulberg, Ferozepur Road, Jail Road, Garhi Shahu, and many inner city localities. The suburbs of Lahore, including Shahdara, Sheikhupura, and Kasur, also experienced feeder trips.
