The apex committee convened under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved on Saturday the launch of operation "Azm-e- Istehkam" across the country to combat terrorism and extremism effectively.
The high-level huddle, included the chiefs of armed forces, federal ministers, chief ministers, and chief secretaries, among others, who unanimously agreed on the necessity and urgency of initiating this operation.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, operation 'Azm e Istehkam' symbolises the nation's unwavering resolve to eradicate the scourge of terrorism and extremism, ensuring stability and security for all citizens.
"The war against terrorism and extremism is Pakistan's own war, crucial for our survival and prosperity," emphasised the Apex committee, underscoring the gravity of the national effort.

In addition to outlining new security protocols for Chinese nationals residing in Pakistan, the committee stressed the implementation of multilateral principles outlined in the National Action Plan, focusing on identifying and rectifying any shortcomings.
Furthermore, the committee announced plans for legislative measures aimed at strengthening the prosecution of terrorism-related cases, affirming zero tolerance towards any threat to the integrity and stability of the State.
Moving forward, regional cooperation at political and diplomatic levels will be intensified to dismantle terrorist networks and eliminate their operational capabilities, reaffirming Pakistan's commitment to regional peace and security.
Armed forces alone can't defeat terrorism: PM Shehbaz
Addressing the huddle, PM Shehbaz underscored that the battle against terrorism cannot solely rest on the shoulders of the armed forces but requires a unified national effort.
He called for political differences to be set aside, labelling the struggle as nothing less than a battle for the nation's survival.
