President Asif Ali Zardari approved on Monday the appointment of three new judges to the Supreme Court, following the issuance of a notification by the Federal Ministry of Law.
The newly appointed justices are Justice Malik Shahzad (Chief Justice of Lahore High Court), Justice Shahid Bilal (Judge, Lahore High Court), and Justice Aqeel Abbasi (Chief Justice Sindh High Court).
In a parallel development, Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, a seasoned jurist from the Lahore High Court, has been appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of Lahore High Court, as confirmed by an official notification.
Similarly, Justice Shafi Siddiqui, a senior judge of the Sindh High Court, will undertake the responsibilities of Acting Chief Justice for his jurisdiction.
The oath-taking ceremony for the three newly appointed judges in the Supreme Court will be administered by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
