Lahore woke up to heavy winds and dark, ominous clouds covering the sky on Thursday morning, signaling an imminent downpour.
The city's weather took a dramatic turn as winds began blowing in early today, bringing a welcome change to the climate.
The Met Department has reported that the air is laden with a moisture content of 74%, while winds are blowing at speeds ranging from 10 to 12 kilometres per hour. These conditions have combined to make the weather in Lahore pleasantly cool.
The department has also forecast intermittent thundershowers throughout the day, which are expected to bring much-needed relief from the recent heat. "There is a strong possibility of intermittent thundershowers in Lahore today," stated a representative from the Met Department.
In addition to the refreshing rain, a significant drop in temperature is anticipated following the showers. This cooler weather will provide a respite for residents who have been enduring the summer heat.
Earlier this week, the Met Department forecast chances of rain and thunderstorms for Saturday and Sunday, offering a potential respite from the heat.
"The intensity of heat in Lahore is at its peak, and residents are advised to take precautions," warned meteorologists. However, until then, health experts advise staying indoors during peak heat hours, staying hydrated, and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun to prevent heat-related illnesses.
