Defense Minister Khawaja Asif on Friday asserted that terrorism is being exported from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
Speaking in the National Assembly, he emphasized Pakistan’s right to defend its citizens and territory, stating, “If terrorism continues to emanate from Afghanistan, we will respond accordingly.”
He emphasized that while efforts for good relations with Afghanistan were desirable, Pakistan would not tolerate terrorism being exported onto its soil.
The minister highlighted the importance of good relations with Afghanistan, mentioning his visit to Kabul where he expressed a desire for positive bilateral ties. He stressed that the issue of Afghanistan should not be politicized and should be handled with a focus on security and stability.
Addressing the opposition, he accused them of having links with the Taliban and offering positions to its members. He underscored that these actions undermine Pakistan's efforts to combat terrorism and maintain national security.
Khawaja Asif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its people and ensuring the country’s safety against any external threats. He called for a united stance against terrorism and urged all political factions to support the government’s efforts in this regard.
